In The Land of Blood and Honey”, the movie that marked Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut, had ridiculously low earnings. In the first weekend it made a little over 18,000 dollars and the next days cashed in less than 50 K.

Movie critics went hard on Angelina Jolie, when talking about her first movie as a director. “In the Land of Blood and Honey”, a Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian war drama, cashed in 18,854 dollars in its debut weekend, while playing in three theaters. Its first week had a gross of 55,000 dollars.
“Box Office Magazine” gives its opinion on the movie describing it as a “wannabe-serious film” that “comes off as not just unenlightening, but borderline-interminable”.

In “Newark Star-Ledger”, Stephen Witty starts its comment on the movie in a soft comic manner: “Asking recently about "In the Land of Blood and Honey," a friend was a little worried that it might be ... good”, as Angie is very successful in all the other aspects of her life. “Angelina Jolie is still beautiful, rich, and married to Brad Pitt. But judging by "In the Land of Blood and Honey," there's still at least one thing even she could use a little improvement in.”
“The Reel Breakdown”, cited by Yahoo! News, believes the hypnotic Hollywood beauty “has gone too far”, trying to direct and produce a movie. The film starring unpronounceable names, which features English subtitles, did not even make “Angelina’s nanny budget”, the blogger Thelma Adams jokes.
