It's about the money: Jessie J shaves head for RM2.3mil

Written By MR on Thursday, March 21, 2013 | Thursday, March 21, 2013

Jessie J has shaved her head for charity. She showed off her new bald look at the recent Red Nose Day telethon, as part of Britain's Comic Relief festivities. "It's the weirdest feeling... It feels so liberating," she said, giddily.

Jessie raised over £500,000 (RM2.36 million) for the cause after offering to shave off her long dark hair, and admitted the drastic haircut—and money fans paid to will her on—had really stunned her family, who were backstage. "Everyone's crying. My mum's back there. My mum's crying with happiness," she said.

She also took to Twitter to thank her fans who contributed to the charity, writing, "I did it! Thank you to everyone who is donating!"

The Red Nose Day telethon highlights included a live performance of One Direction's 2013 Comic Relief anthem One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks). Harry Styles kicked off the song wearing a comedy red nose, while Louis Tomlinson celebrated the big gig by dying his hair red.

James Bond's style celebrated in Barbican exhibition

Written By MR on Friday, July 6, 2012 | Friday, July 06, 2012

Barbican showcases costumes and props from the films' 50-year history, from suits and swimwear to gadgets and diamonds
Designing 007 at the Barbican: A James Bond suit displayed
on a Sean Connery waxwork next to an Aston Martin DB5.

The Chesterfield coat and hat Sean Connery wears in Dr No for his first meeting with M; Roger Moore's yellow ski suit and red backpack seen on the slopes in The Spy Who Loved Me; George Lazenby's kilt donned in On Her Majesty's Secret Service; the Brioni suit Pierce Brosnan wore to drive a tank in Goldeneye; and Daniel Craig's infamously snug baby-blue swim trunks of Casino Royale fame. All are featured in the Barbican's blockbuster summer show Designing 007: 50 Years of Bond Style, which opens on Friday

Every aspect of this extensive retrospective of the Bond films has been carefully thought through. It is as camp and fun as it is nerdishly packed with facts, production sketches, storyboards and costume drawings. Film screens playing classic clips are dotted throughout, with scenes relating to the paraphernalia, from clothing to props, gadgets to 25-carat diamonds.

The opening scene of Dr No, the first Bond film, featured a close-up of a turned-back silk cuff on a tuxedo jacket designed by Anthony Sinclair for Sean Connery. The tailor's involvement in shaping the look of Bond is integral to the character's image. A three-piece grey-check suit by Sinclair is worn by a Connery-lookalike mannequin leaning on a DB5 Aston Martin in this show.

Bronwyn Cosgrave, fashion historian and co-curator of the exhibition, says Sinclair's designs are the male equivalent of a Chanel suit. Its athletic cut, she says, inspired designers such as Hedi Slimane, Tom Ford and Thom Browne.

Ford's mohair and cashmere tuxedo, worn by Craig in 2008's Quantum of Solace, also puts in an appearance in a section of the exhibition dedicated to Bond casino moments.

As well as Craig's trunks, there is a recreation of Connery's Thunderball shorts, which Bond costume designer and Oscar-winner Lindy Hemming – the exhibition's other key curator – asked British brand Sunspel to recreate. Such is the power of Bond – Cosgrave says many fashion trends have been inspired by the fashions of this franchise – that Sunspel, who also created clothes for Craig's Casino Royale wardrobe, has launched a new swimwear line.

Designed to take visitors on a Bond-style narrative journey – there are rooms dedicated to M, ski slopes and foreign locations. Cosgrave says the show aims to reflect all 23 films. Visitors walk through a bullet-shaped entrance covered with stills from the films, before arriving in the Gold Room, which features a revolving circular bed complete with white sheets and a gold-painted female body – a nod to the classic scene from Goldfinger.

Pussy Galore's gold waistcoat and Scaramanga's golden gun are displayed in glass cases alongside black-and-white footage of Connery arriving at the premiere of Goldfinger and being mobbed by fans. "The film Goldfinger made Bond a pop-culture phenomenon rivalled only by the Beatles," says Cosgrave.

Other costume highlights in the exhibition include Ursula Andress's Dr No bikini, which was created from the actor's bra and some bottoms found locally during filming, alongside designs by Prada, Gucci and Versace.

In 2002's Die Another Day, Halle Berry's Jinx Johnson paid homage to Andress by emerging from the sea in a similar bikini. But it is Berry's Versace evening dress that is one of the exhibition's standouts. It is a typically flesh-revealing gown in a pinkish purple and featuring glittering jewels across the top section. Alongside the dress are the original sketches by the designer Donatella Versace.

Similarly eye catching is a canary yellow Roberto Cavalli affair which is slashed in the front and splattered with Swarovski crystals around the bust. This was worn by Ivana Milicevic to play Valenka, the girlfriend of Casino Royale's villian Le Chiffre. There is also the red silk georgette, one-shouldered dress worn by Eunice Gayson to play Bond's girlfriend Sylvia Trench in Dr No. This dress was apparently bought by the actor herself from an inexpensive shop near Pinewood studios following the film director Terence Young vetoing costume designer Julie Harris's original choice.

In a section dedicated to Bond villains and enigmas, Madonna's fencing ensemble from Die Another Day and Jaws' metal teeth also feature.

"It's the longest running and most successful film franchise of all time – and the most glamorously made," says Cosgrove. "Nothing can touch it. That is why Bond and his sidekicks are inspirational to people all over the world and to all ages."

ABBA To Relaunch Final Album With New Track

Written By MR on Monday, January 30, 2012 | Monday, January 30, 2012

STOCKHOLM - Swedish pop group ABBA are to release a new version of their last album, featuring a previously unreleased track for the first time since 1994, the group's website said on Wednesday.

ABBA remain one of the world's most popular bands and their music got a new lease of life with the Mamma Mia stage show and film. The band's website said a deluxe edition of their final album, The Visitors, would be released in April.

"For ABBA fans, the most sensational inclusion in the package will be the previously unreleased track, From A Twinkling Star To A Passing Angel (demos)," a statement said.

"This is the first time since the Thank You For The Music box set in 1994 that ABBA have opened the doors to the tape vaults to release previously unheard music from the group's heyday," it added.

The release will also feature bonus selections along with a DVD of rare and previously unreleased material from the archives.

The Visitors album was originally released in 1981.

ABBA, made up of Agnetha Faltskog, Anna-Frid Lyngstad, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, racked up a string of hits in the 1970s and '80s, and their cult following has transformed them into some of Sweden's most recognisable figures. REUTERS

Kristen Bell happy to build House Of Lies

Written By MR on Friday, January 27, 2012 | Friday, January 27, 2012

NEW YORK - Kristen Bell is such a fan of Homeland that she just had to tell the cast of the hit Showtime drama at a recent party.

"I felt at one point one of them kind of take a step back like, 'She's a little intense,' and then I got insecure like, 'Oh, no, you're THAT person,'" she relates.

Now Bell is sharing a network with her favorite show with her new series, House Of Lies, about a management consulting firm that specialises in damage control.

The 31-year-old Bell first wowed critics playing a teen private investigator on the smart series Veronica Mars, which debuted in 2004 and aired for three seasons. The film industry took notice and began casting her in such movies as Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Couples Retreat. She also narrates Gossip Girl as the show's title characte.

Bell realised she missed TV but wanted to do something edgier than anything she had done before. She also liked the idea of being part of an ensemble cast. She found what she was looking in House Of Lies.

The blistering comedy stars Don Cheadle as a slick, ruthless management consultant. Bell plays the ambitious Jeannie, who loves the high life but can flirt with the low life.

"If he's a great actor he's an even cooler person and I don't think there's a ton of people you can say that about," Bell says about Cheadle. "But he's a really genuine, grounded, nice, funny guy."

Bell, who grew up in suburban Detroit, trained in opera and performed in community theater. She went on to study at New York University where she won a role her senior year in the 2001 Broadway musical The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer, which ran less than a month.

Bell says she misses musical theater but doesn't feel comfortable leaving her family and friends in California for a long stretch of time in New York. She is engaged to Dax Shepard, who co-stars on the drama Parenthood on NBC. The two recently produced and starred in a film together called Outrun which is expected to hit theaters next summer. Shepard also directed.

"We actually grew closer by spending every single minute together for about nine weeks," she says. "We drove to work together and we came home together. It's very organic for us to spend every moment together. We're severely co-dependent. It's a disease!" AP

Angelina Jolie’s movie has ridiculously low earnings

Written By MR on Sunday, January 15, 2012 | Sunday, January 15, 2012

In The Land of Blood and Honey”, the movie that marked Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut, had ridiculously low earnings. In the first weekend it made a little over 18,000 dollars and the next days cashed in less than 50 K.

Movie critics went hard on Angelina Jolie, when talking about her first movie as a director. “In the Land of Blood and Honey”, a Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian war drama, cashed in 18,854 dollars in its debut weekend, while playing in three theaters. Its first week had a gross of 55,000 dollars.
“Box Office Magazine” gives its opinion on the movie describing it as a “wannabe-serious film” that “comes off as not just unenlightening, but borderline-interminable”.

In “Newark Star-Ledger”, Stephen Witty starts its comment on the movie in a soft comic manner: “Asking recently about "In the Land of Blood and Honey," a friend was a little worried that it might be ... good”, as Angie is very successful in all the other aspects of her life. “Angelina Jolie is still beautiful, rich, and married to Brad Pitt. But judging by "In the Land of Blood and Honey," there's still at least one thing even she could use a little improvement in.”
“The Reel Breakdown”, cited by Yahoo! News, believes the hypnotic Hollywood beauty “has gone too far”, trying to direct and produce a movie. The film starring unpronounceable names, which features English subtitles, did not even make “Angelina’s nanny budget”, the blogger Thelma Adams jokes.

Are Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake engaged?

Written By MR on Sunday, January 8, 2012 | Sunday, January 08, 2012

Actress Jessica Biel is back together with beau Justin Timberlake after breaking-up with him in early 2011. Now, several sources talking to Us Weekly reveal that the couple is engaged.  Read more to find out where Justin proposed to Jessica and how she reacted.

There were a lot of rumors surrounding the split between Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake that occurred in early 2011. Insiders said that JT’s inappropriate reaction to Biel’s love declaration at his birthday party (that she organized) was the final drop for them. Many thought Jessica was crushed after the breaking-up, but her representative said she was “just fine”.

The split only lasted three months (more than others’ marriages – see Kim Kardashian’s wedding), so we could call it “just a break”, not a break-up. So when they got back together, had a conversation about taking the next step”, a source told Us Weekly. Justin, 30, proposed to Jessica, 29, while on a winter sports trip in the mountains of Jackson, Wyoming. “Justin knows how much she loves snowboarding and the mountains, so it was the perfect place”, says another insider.

The couple couldn’t be happier. Justin “knew it was the right time to propose”. No news yet about the wedding date.

Demi Lovato on her fights with Miley Cyrus

Written By MR on Thursday, January 5, 2012 | Thursday, January 05, 2012

Demi Lovato says that while she often butts heads with fellow teen pop star Miley Cyrus, she and "Wizards of Waverly Place" star Selena Gomez get along like two peas in a pod.

"[Miley and I] are very strong-headed, so when we fight, it’s brutal," Lovato says in the most recent issue of Seventeen magazine. "We’re like, ‘We’re never going to be friends again!’ Then two days later, we’re like, ‘I love you and I miss you!’"

CAN WILMER VALDERRAMA HANDLE DEMI LOVATO'S 'BAGGAGE'?
However, Lovato doesn't have issues with Gomez, who is currently dating Justin Bieber.
Demi Lovato says it is easy to get along with Selena Gomez.

But Lovato says that it isn't as easy to get along with Miley Cyrus.

"Selena and I, we never fight," says Lovato. "She’s not a confrontational person at all."
Regardless, Lovato says all three Disney stars are friends for life.
"Both of them will never leave my life no matter what happens, because we’ve been through so much together," she says.

For Lovato, "so much" includes hospitalization for bulimia, bipolar disorder and other "emotional issues."
"I’m not gonna lie," Lovato tells Seventeen. "I was self-medicating. I was doing things like drinking and using [drugs], like a lot of teens do to numb their pain ... [Now] I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I don't throw up after my meals, I don't starve myself. There's nothing that I do that I feel ashamed of."

Dido gives birth to baby boy on Christmas

Written By MR on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 | Wednesday, December 28, 2011

Singer Dido, who teamed-up with rapper Eminem for the hit "Stan", gave birth to a beautiful baby boy on the first day of Christmas. This is the first child for the 40-year-old singer.

Dido received the best present she could ever get for Christmas. She became a mother for the first time. The 40-year-old singer gave birth to a gorgeous baby boy named Stanley. Is it a coincidence that her son shares the same name with the character in the song “Stan”, which she sang along with rapper Eminem more than 10 years ago?

In 2000, Eminem and Dido released a music hit that remained in the back of everybody’s mind. The story of Stan, a fictional fan of the rapper, was a morbid one. He was very passionate about his star and was writing him letter after letter. With each letter, he became angrier, as he did not receive any reply. At one point, he killed her pregnant girlfriend and buried the body, as an act of despair. In the end, he receives a letter from Eminem, but it was all too late. Stan had committed suicide.

With all this history behind the name, do you think it was a right thing to do, choosing it for her baby boy?

Robert De Niro and wife welcome baby girl

Written By MR on Monday, December 26, 2011 | Monday, December 26, 2011

Movie star Robert De Niro and his wife, Grace Hightower welcomed a baby girl yesterday, Access Hollywood announced. The baby, named Helen, was born via surrogate.

Hollywood actor Robert De Niro is a father again. He and wife Grace received their Christmas present earlier this year. As De Niro is 68 and Grace is 56, their little bundle of joy was born via surrogate.  The representative of the couple confirmed the news to Access Hollywood and said the baby weighed in at 7 lbs., 2 oz at birth and is healthy.

De Niro and Hightower have another child together: a boy named Elliot, who is 13 years old. The actor has another child from his previous marriage, to Diahne Abbott: a son named Raphael. Before tying the knot with the famous movie star, Diahne already had a child, Drena, from a previous relationship. When they got married, Robert adopted Drena.

Not only did Robert De Niro have children from previous relationships, but baby daughter Helen isn’t the first of his children to be delivered via surrogate, either. In 1995, the actor and former model Toukie Smith, welcomed twins Julian and Aaron, who were conceived in vitro and born via surrogate.

One thing we can say for sure: Robert De Niro is crazy about kids!

Jennifer Aniston New Tattoo

Written By MR on Monday, June 27, 2011 | Monday, June 27, 2011

Jennifer Aniston has finally succumbed to being inked with a tattoo that shows she has true puppy love.

Literally.

Her first permanent marking, which is inked in script on her right foot, says the name Norman. And who is Norman?  A new boyfriend? A fresh guy in the life of Jennifer Aniston? And, if so, has her relationship with Justin Theroux already piqued?

Probably not.

Norman is Jennifer Aniston's pup, her beloved pet who sadly passed away in May at the ripe old dog age of 15.

The name Norman also happens to be the favorite word in Jennifer Aniston's vocabulary. That's what the seasoned actress told James Lipton while taping an episode of Inside the Actors Studio this week.
And yes, that word Norman -- the one for which Jennifer Aniston is so fond -- directly corresponds to her beloved pet, a Welsh corgi mixed with terrier mutt. A mutt this actress loves even after death did they part.

Dark secrets of celebrities

Written By MR on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 | Tuesday, June 14, 2011

It turns out that even celebrities, famous actors and world known rich and famous people have dark secrets from the past too. Have a look at some of the spooky skeletons hiding deep down in their closets. Most of the secrets are about their parents, jobs they did and strange love history. I couldn’t believe these stories!

 Charlize Theron

Her mother killed her father in front of her.
For many years, Charlize just mentioned in her interviews that “her father was killed in a car accident when she was 15 years” and changed the subject. The truth about a drunken abusive father-tyrant of the Oscar-winning actress and her childhood that she spent in Johannesburg, soon came out. The main reason why Charlize was trying to forget about those times was because of a large family quarrel, during which her mother, while trying to protect herself and her daughter, shot and killed her father.

 Leighton Meester and Boris Moiseev

Both of them were born in the prison.
Who would have thought that the stars of the show “Gossip Girl” Leighton Meester and Boris Moiseyev has something in common! They were both born in prison. Mom Layton was sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug smuggling, and mother of Boris was a political prisoner.

 Lera Kudryavtseva

Her second husband sat in jail for rape and robbery.

 Jack Nicholson

His sister turned out to be his mother.
It is the Time Magazine who dug out in the 1976 that Jack Nicholson’s sister is actually his mother and the woman whim he thought of as his mother was his grandmother.

 Teri Hatcher

She was raped by her uncle.

 Tobey Maguire

His father robbed banks.

 Oprah Winfrey

She had a baby at the age of 14.

 Angelina Jolie

The former lover of the actress became a godmother of her twins.
Two actresses Jenny Shimizu and Angelina Jolie are more then just friends. They are also ex lovers and they say they still have a strong emotional bond connecting them. This bond is so strong that Angelina even asked Jenny to become a godmother to her twins.

 Woody Allen

He married his stepdaughter.

Lucy Liu

Aerosmith returning to studio for long delayed album

Written By MR on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 | Wednesday, June 08, 2011

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Now that Steven Tyler has finished his successful first season as a judge on "American Idol," he is returning to his day job with Aerosmith.

The singer and his four bandmates plan to reunite next month with veteran producer Jack Douglas to kick-start work on their long-delayed album, guitarist Joe Perry said on Tuesday.
"Whole band has plans to go into the studio with Jack Douglas second week of July to work on new Aero CD," Perry said on Twitter.

The album will be recorded in the Massachusetts studio the band built six years ago expressly to work with Douglas, Perry said last month. The band, sans Perry who had a prior commitment, held an eight-day writing session earlier this year.
Aerosmith has not released an album of new material since 2001's "Just Push Play." Attempts to record a follow-up have been interrupted by internecine strife and a litany of health problems affecting most of its members.

Tyler has found himself at odds with his bandmates in recent years as he looked to pursue various solo projects. He was a popular addition to the "American Idol" lineup this season, and used the show's high profile to promote his debut solo single and autobiography.

Aerosmith will take a break from recording to kick off a South American tour in Peru on October 22. A U.S. trek -- as well as a stop on "American Idol" -- is planned once the new album is done, Perry has said.
Douglas worked on such Aerosmith albums as 1974's "Get Your Wings," 1975's "Toys in the Attic," and 1976's "Rocks." He reunited with the band on its 2004 collection of blues standards "Honkin' on Bobo."

Eva Mendes Explains Why She'll Never Marry

Written By MR on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 | Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Actress Eva Mendes has a lot in common with the host of 'Chelsea Lately.' Apart from sharing a taste for shoes with really super-high heels, both Mendes and Chelsea Handler admit they have an aversion to getting married.

Mendes believes in true love and spiritual unions and all that good stuff -- she's just not into having a piece of paper to seal the deal. "We were doing it for land originally. I mean, how unromantic is that?" she asked.

"Well," replied the ever-practical Handler, "if we were doing it for land now I'd probably be more interested."

We're sure Ms. Mendes would have no shortage of willing grooms-to-be lining up if she ever decided to change her mind, but for now she thinks it's much sexier to be able to refer to your "boyfriend" rather than "husband" when you're in your 50s or 60s.

She thinks that the whole wedding business is so O.T.T. and it's not what it should all be about. Again, Handler's in agreement: "People start getting really ugly when they start registering for their own gifts."

William and Kate's Canada itinerary announced

Prince William and his wife Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, walk hand in hand from Buckingham Palace

LONDON (AFP) – Prince William and his new wife Kate will visit eight cities during their July visit to Canada, their first overseas royal tour as a married couple, palace officials announced Monday.

The couple, officially titled Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, will kick-off their visit in Ottawa before taking in Gatineau, Montreal, Quebec City, Charlottetown, Summerside, Yellowknife and Calgary.

From there, they will fly to California and spend two days in the Los Angeles area.

"The couple are very much looking forward to their first joint royal tour," a royal source said.

"Their purpose is to strengthen the very strong ties that exist between Canada and their royal family and for the duke and the duchess to get to know Canada better."

William, the son of Charles and Diana, princess of Wales, last visited Canada when he went to Vancouver aged 15 in 1998 with his father and brother Prince Harry. He was given a pop star's welcome and was mobbed by teenage girls.

The brothers also toured Ontario province with their parents in 1991.

Diana died in a car crash in Paris in 1997, the year after she and Charles divorced.

As Canada is a Commonwealth realm with Queen Elizabeth II as its sovereign, the duke and duchess will visit as members of the Canadian royal family.

Sean Kingston crashes watercraft in Fla

Written By MR on Monday, May 30, 2011 | Monday, May 30, 2011

Budak Gemok

MIAMI – Authorities say rapper Sean Kingston is hospitalized after a crashing a personal watercraft into a Miami Beach bridge.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Jorge Pino says Kingston and a female passenger were injured when the watercraft hit the Palm Island Bridge around 6 p.m. Sunday. Pino says both were hospitalized early Monday at Ryder Trauma Center, but he didn't know their conditions.

Pino says authorities are investigating the crash, and "nothing at this point would indicate that alcohol played a role."

A representative for his label Epic Records confirmed early Monday that Kingston was in a crash and "was now stabilized." No further information was provided.

Kingston rose to fame with his 2007 hit "Beautiful Girls" and was also featured on songs by artists including Justin Bieber.
